Welcome to Planned Giving

You believe in the work of the Catholic Church and you want to ensure that it will be a force for good in the lives of generations to come. You want your gift to make a difference for the Church, but are understandably concerned about your own future financial needs and those of your family.

The Church deeply appreciates your support and wants to make sure your gift is as rewarding and suitable for you as it is for the Church. We recognize that many parishioners want to assist their parish, Catholic school or diocese and express their gratitude to God for a lifetime of blessings, but simply do not know how to do it. Or they may be unaware of the different ways to structure their gift so that they can save on taxes, or receive income during their lifetime, or both.

This web site is designed to provide information and assist those who desire to make gifts to their parish, school or diocese. We want you to know about the financial tools you can use to plan a gift that will benefit you and, at the same time, have a significant impact on the future of our Catholic life here in southern Missouri.

  • You don't have to use cash to make your gift -- you can give appreciated securities instead, receive an income tax deduction for the full value of the asset, and completely bypass capital gains tax.
  • You may be holding assets that would benefit the Church more than they do you -- such as a life insurance policy that you no longer need, a parcel of real estate like a second home or undeveloped land, or a collection of books or artwork that you no longer have room to display.
  • You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime - make your parish or school a beneficiary of your will or revocable trust, or a beneficiary of your retirement plan, and leave your cash flow and current financial planning uninterrupted.
  • You can make the Church a partner in your giving -- you can deed your home to your parish or school but continue to live there, you can make a gift that pays you lifetime income, and you can make grants from your own Donor Advised Fund.

These tools are called planned gifts, and this website is the place to learn more about them. Where to start? If you already know something about your giving options, click on Ways to Give Wisely and go right to the planned gifts that you want to read more about. If you're not sure how a gift can meet both your charitable and personal goals, first go to Discover the Benefits of Giving Wisely to learn how planned gifts work and how they can stretch your giving ability.

If you'd like to hear more, complete the personal illustration form for follow-up information from us. Or call us at the Catholic Center, (417) 866-0841.

Welcome! We're very glad you're here.
